1. Camping Zeeburg:

Camping Zeeburg is the closest camping site to Amsterdam’s city center – you can be at Central Station within a 20-minute bike ride, for example. But there are many other great things about this camping site. We love that it’s peacefully located by the waterside and that they offer a variety of accommodation options. You can stay in a colorful eco-cabin, a wagon, a traditional camping pitch, and more! Also, they have a lovely restaurant on site that serves really tasty food.

2. Camping Vliegenbos:

Camping Vliegenbos is located in Amsterdam North – an area that mixes idyllic nature with hip neighborhoods and underground culture. This camping site is located right by the Noorderpark metro station, which means you can reach the city center in around 13 minutes! If you want to go the Dutch way, you can also rent a bike at the reception. You can stay in one of their lovely cabins, or reserve a pitch for your tent or camper van. Plus, the forest this camping site is located in has many beautiful hiking trails to enjoy all year round!

3. Camping Amsterdam Gaasper:

Camping Amsterdam Gaasper is a large city camping site located in the scenic Gaasperpark. This relaxing lakeside park is full of gems to discover – including a few beaches and even a planetarium! You can rent a bike to explore the park at the reception – which we recommend you do. And if you’d like to see Amsterdam’s main attractions, there’s a metro station close to the camping site. This will take you to the center in less than 20 minutes. But please note: Gaasper does not offer cabins, so you’ll have to bring your own tent or camper van!

4. Camping De Amsterdamse Bos (Eurosparcs):

The Amsterdamse Bos is many Amsterdammers’ favorite place in the city – although it is technically located in the neighboring city of Amstelveen. This magical city forest is full of things to do, and that’s why it’s such a lovely option for camping in Amsterdam! Kids will love visiting the goat farm, playing in the climbing park, or exploring the waters in a pedal boat. And adults will enjoy the stand-up paddle sessions and the outdoor theater performances during summer.

The Europarcs camping in Amsterdamse Bos offers pods, cabins, glamping tents, pitches for your own tent, and more! From there, you can reach the center of Amsterdam in around 40 minutes, or the center of Amstelveen in half an hour.

5. Mini Camping T’uilenstekkie

Mini Camping t’Uilenstekkie is an idyllic campsite located in the northern extreme of Amsterdam, right where the Dutch capital borders the neighboring municipality of Waterland. This is the place to be if you’d like to be surrounded by beautiful rural landscapes without going far from Amsterdam! Accessing the city center can be a bit difficult from here, but it becomes more doable if you have a car. Another thing to be aware of is that t’Uilenstekkie doesn’t offer cabins or pods, so bring your own tent or caravan!

6. Kampeerbedijf De Liede:

Another wonderful spot for camping near Amsterdam, Kampeerbedrijf De Liede is located between the Dutch capital and the charming city of Haarlem. This camping site owes its name to the pleasant lake it’s located in the margins of, the Buiten Liede. Here, there are cabins available for rental and plenty of space for tents and caravans. And in the summer, De Liede has a convivial waterside canteen where campers can enjoy a tasty meal and play games. This camping site is located 15 minutes by bike away from Haarlem’s city center. It’s also situated right next to the Spaarnwoude station, from where you can take public transport into both Haarlem and Amsterdam.

7. Kennemer Duincamping De Lakens:

Kennemer Duincamping is for those looking for the best of both worlds. Here you can camp near Amsterdam and stay close to the beach! By ‘close’ we mean you’ll literally wake up and have your feet in the sand since this camping site is tucked amidst the dunes in Blomendaal aan Zee. And you can reach the place within 30 minutes by train from Amsterdam Centraal. Talk about convenience! Our favorite thing about De Lakens is that they offer different types of accommodation, each with a theme. There’s the retro trailer, the safari tent, the backpack shack, and more! And of course, you can always go the old-school way – booking a pitch and bringing your own tent.

8. Camping Zeevangshoeve Edam:

This beautiful camping site is located in the quaint town of Edam, just 45 minutes away from Amsterdam. Yes, that’s where Edam cheese comes from! The town itself is a lovely place to explore, and there are also cute villages nearby. We recommend checking out this post to learn more about four lovely gems in the area – Broek in Waterland, Monnickendam, Volendam, and Marken. You can thank us later! Regarding the camping site, we love that there are so many animals on the property. Kids and adults alike will enjoy waking up to pigs, cows, and ducks in their backyard! Another plus is that the sanitary facilities are better than you’d expect from a camping site.
