With its beautiful streets, parks, and canal-side wharf cellars, Utrecht is one of the most gorgeous cities in the Netherlands. Known by some as ‘little Amsterdam’, Utrecht is similar to the Dutch capital both in its architecture and in the number of fun things that happen in the city.
After a full day exploring landmarks such as the Dom Tower and the Railway Museum, visitors will be ready for a restful break in a cozy setting. And what better way to unwind than staying overnight in a stylish boutique hotel?
To help you choose the right accommodation, we have compiled this list of the best boutique hotels in Utrecht. After all, you’ll want to stay in a place as charming as the city itself!
1. Muze Hotel Utrecht:
Owned by brother and sister Paul and Cocky, MUZE is a charming hotel located on one of Utrecht’s canal streets. The historical building hosted the ancient Parkhotel Eijtinger for decades before becoming home to MUZE. However, when Paul and Cocky bought it in 2017, the property was decaying. A lot of hard work (and impeccable taste) was put into the place, and today MUZE is one of the coziest boutique hotels in Utrecht. Each of their six vibrantly decorated rooms is inspired by a Utrecht landmark. You’ll feel fully immersed in the city even while sleeping!

2. Logement Petit Beijers:
Petit Beijers is the kind of place you enter and never want to leave! This boutique hotel feels like a real oasis in the center of Utrecht, with an incredibly cozy bed-and-breakfast atmosphere. There are nine rooms here, each decorated in earthy and pastel tones that give them a homey feel.
On the ground floor of Petit Beijers, there is an excellent restaurant called Soep-er. Run by the same owner as the hotel, this place specializes in soups. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast here, with fresh bread, cakes, and quiches from their bakery.
Have we mentioned that Logement Petit Beijers stands at what used to be the entrance to Palace Lofen, commissioned by Emperor Henry III? Unfortunately, the palace was destroyed by a great fire in 1253. But Petit Beijers honors its history by keeping the original fence with a golden crown between its two buildings.

3. The Nox Hotel:
The Nox is a modern and stylish boutique hotel located a stone’s throw from Utrecht’s iconic Dom Tower. Each of their four rooms is inspired by a moon phase, creating a relaxing ambiance perfect for a deep and restful sleep. The Nox’s classy decoration in black, white, and gray will win the hearts of all minimalists.
Located in the same building is Restaurant Hemel & Aarde. Don’t miss out on this one if you’re a fine dining fan! Or if you’d prefer something more casual, check out some of our favorite eateries in Utrecht.

4. Hotel Beijers:
With 14 uniquely decorated rooms, Hotel Beijers is located inside a magnificent building that was originally a 17th-century city palace. Located by the gorgeous St. Peter’s Church, Hotel Beijers has an incredibly rich history. Throughout the centuries, it served as a residence, a school for poor children, a religious institute, and an antique store. In 2008, art collector Bert Degenerar transformed the building into Hotel Beijers. Now those who visit Utrecht can have the pleasure of staying overnight at this stunning monument along with enjoying the utrecht’s nightife!

5. Simple:
Another gem in the center of Utrecht, Simple is a spectacular boutique hotel and restaurant. Its 18th century façade hides the modern and lavish interior of the place – a classy contrast! But the coolest thing about Simple is that it’s located just by the Dom Church, of which guests can catch a glimpse of from their window. And if you’re staying in an executive suite, you’ll even enjoy a view of the church from your roof terrace. Simply awesome!

6. logement swaenenvecht:
Logement Swaenenvecht is a charming bed and breakfast located in a beautifully restored mansion dating back to 1678. The hotel is located in the picturesque village of Oud-Zuilen, just a short drive from Utrecht’s city center.
The atmosphere here is worth every second of the commute from Utrecht – the property is surrounded by nature and greenery, which makes it ideal for a peaceful getaway. Each of the hotel’s nine rooms matches the village vibe, as they are all decorated in antique farmhouse style. Plus, Logement Swaenenvecht stands just behind Zuylen Castle, a majestic landmark located along the River Vecht. We couldn’t think of a more romantic setting!

7. Court Hotel:
The Court Hotel is a classy boutique hotel located in a historic courthouse building in Utrecht’s historic center. Here, old-style elements and modern design meet for a super comfortable stay. In the hotel’s 27 elegant rooms, you’ll see many decorative aspects that allude to the building’s past as a courthouse. Its address on the Steenweg is perfect for all shopping lovers, as it’s a vibrant shopping street. 9. Eye Hotel:
Hotel locations in Utrecht are truly unique! The magnificent building that today houses the Eye Hotel operated as an eye hospital from 1858 until 1984. But not any eye hospital – one founded by the famous professor, Franciscus Cornelis Donders. His legacy remains alive in each of the hotel’s 36 rooms, where guests will find lots of eye-inspired decoration elements. Another thing we like about the Eye Hotel is that it’s one of the few boutique hotels in Utrecht with family-friendly rooms. Plus, their breakfast buffet is a feast for the eyes!
Eye Hotel | Wijde Begijnestraat 1-3, Binnenstad
10. Mother Goose Hotel:
Mother Goose is a delightfully decorated boutique hotel in Utrecht. What’s so special about it? The building that today is home to Mother Goose was originally a city castle dating back to the Middle Ages! Although today the hotel’s design is mostly modern, visitors can still see some of the construction. For example, the fireplace on the first floor and a wooden spiral staircase. Aside from this, our favorite thing about Mother Goose is the huge beds. You’ll have a wonderful sleep night here!
